let me learn to struggle with my compassion and show it even when friends are not kind, let the waves of anger wash over me, let me react and then apologize genuinely. give me a heart big enough to hold love for those who deserve it and will enough to reach towards those who would shy away. let me be a center for unhappiness and happiness alike, let me understand and love another truly and fully, let that love be my own center. let me listen and talk and be sure of myself.
To the Authors:
J.K. Rowling~ Thank you so much for Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Thank you for the love story that trumps all others and for the battle between good and evil that no one will ever forget. Thank you for matching Hogwarts houses to the four humors, thank you for representing the weird in all of us in such a loveable character. Thank you for making being different acceptable. Thank you for creating a beautiful series that has stuck with me and been my rock throughout the majority of my life. Thank you for creating a series that has helped keep me mentally sane (for the most part). Thank you for teaching me how strong love can be. Thank you for everything.
William Shakespeare~ First of all, I know you’re a playwright and not an author, so sorry for not bolding that for you. Second of all, thank you so much for writing. Even if you supposedly didn’t… (he did, you all can shut it). Thank you for writing about Hermione in A Winter’s Tale. Thank you for the tragedies and comedies. Thank you for being great enough to have your own festival and thank you for writing a play that i could play an abbess in. I might just turn out to be a true nun. You have made my literary experience more fulfilling, and I will be forever indebted to you.
John Steinbeck~ Thank you SO much for East of Eden. That is truly all I can say. You are a beautiful man with a beautiful mind and you have enriched my mind completely through that novel. I love you.
Jodi Picoult~ Thank you for teaching me that it is possible to continue to write with the same plot line for each book and to continue to make it interesting. Every book has a new story to tell, a new thing to inform you about, and a beautiful different ending/court case. But I love them all anyways. Especially when I don’t feel like reading anything too hard on the brain. Thank you.
To the Booksellers:
Mathom House Books~ You are a beautiful secondhand bookstore. Without you, I would not be able to read Pygmalion. I would not have been able to find all of these lovely books for less than five dollars. You have been key to helping me continue to love my constants. You are lovely.
Barnes and Noble~ Thank you for being my shoulder to cry on and for supplying me with endless coffee and endless hours of hiding between aisles before going home and for letting me bury myself in books when the world was just rather silly. Thank you for letting me love. Thank you for always existing and for always being a part of my hectic life. I love you.
Cathy just made an epilepsy joke. I am going to strangle that fictional character but leave her half-living so she feels pain when I attempt (but fail) to maim her.
That just drove a stake through my heart… As if I hadn’t thought about all of that enough this summer.
Fuck you Cathy Ames.
You were more fun when you were passionate about not killing other human beings in the war. Now you just have ideas and shit…
