I pledge to read the printed word
OKAY IM GOING TO RANT FOR A SECOND!
EReaders were not the only cause of this. You want to know the real cause? A SHITTY ECONOMY. More than bookstores shut down over the past few years….
If you don’t know me or why this bothers me, you shouldn’t be following me. Unfollow me right now. Now for my rant:
Books are the essence of the soul. I have never allowed myself to read a book on anything electronic. I deleted my iBooks app even though my iPhone put it on my phone automatically (and for free). This photo set pisses me off. A LOT. Books are meant to be out in print… They are meant to be held and and slept with and smelled and written in and dog-eared (though i would never) and thrown and picked up and carried and just LOVED. If you want to “save space” DONATE your books after reading them. If you are too lazy to pick up a book and hold it open, congratulations: you are the goddamned EPITOME of a lazy human being.
Who doesn’t love the smell of a new book? Who doesn’t love the smell of an old one? Who doesn’t like to feel the smooth, creamy pages of a book or the worn feel of a page in a used book? Who doesn’t like rummaging through bookstores, searching for the perfect book or just living to reach out and grab something that is old, no longer being printed, or just downright classic? I realize that at this point, I may have lost a lot of you, but just take one thing from this:
Books are important.
